Three songs, three dishes, three shared moments. Drawing on traditions of funeral meals and posthumous offerings — food prepared for the deceased and placed at the threshold between worlds — the work reframes them as a collective farewell to the world as we have known it. Each song gives rise to a dish — sung, prepared, carried out, and eaten.
For this special edition at IMPULSE Festival in Düsseldorf, BRUCHOVRAVY turns towards grief and mourning as practices of attention. The three courses reflect on personal loss, estranged relationships, and the quiet mourning for a world that feels politically fragile, climatically unstable, and technologically accelerated. What does it mean to grieve not only for the dead, but also for the living, and for forms of life that are slowly disappearing?
The evening concludes not in despair but in transformation: fermentation and composting appear as subtle metaphors for change — fragile processes in which decay and renewal coexist.
What remains is a temporary community, gathered in the silence between courses.
BRUCHOVRAVY was initiated and is led by visual artist Dávid Koronczi. The co-creation of its first edition during an artist residency in June 2021 at Schaubmar Mill (Slovak national gallery, Pezinok, Slovakia) was co-created by: David Přílučík, Rastislav Kraviansky, Martina Szabóová and Nikola Čemanová. It is a work in process, the cast is constantly changing, as well as the genre framework of the hosting itself. Sometimes BRUCHOVRAVY is a catering at art events, other times a poetic performance or edible installation.
